Book 6 ~ The Ice Queen

The Ice QueenThe Ice Queen by Alice Hoffman

My rating: 2 of 5 stars

This book was not what I expected, but Alice Hoffman is never a let down. It's filled with self-loathing characters, startling tragedies, and somehow a light at the end of a very dark tunnel. If you're looking for something out of the ordinary, this is your book.

Book 4 ~ Catching Fire

Catching Fire (The Hunger Games, #2)Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Catching Fire had my adrenaline pumping. If I wasn't reading this book, I was talking about it. Every character and every moment was exciting and unforgettable. This was by far my favorite of the series!

Book 5 ~ Mockingjay

Mockingjay (The Hunger Games, #3)Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Mockingjay, you had me thrown there for a bit. I found this book to be emotionally draining. I enjoyed reading it, but with so many twists and turns I felt at times that I had to put it down and breathe. I want to go back and read Catching Fire, just to re-connect with the characters that I loved. If I'm being honest...I was a little let down in the ending of this series.

Wine on Wednesday

Welcome to the first Wine on Wednesday of 2011! This week we'll be tasting a red wine from Mendocino County. Only $4.99 at Trader Joes...I like the sound of that! Go grab yourself a bottle and let me know what you think.

Book 3 ~ Water for Elephants

Water for ElephantsWater for Elephants by Sara Gruen

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I loved this book! Water for Elephants is a beautiful story for everyone to enjoy. From an elephant stealing lemonade to a prohibition raid, every moment was amusing. Jacob Jankowski quickly became one of my favorite characters in fiction today. I want to read this book over and over again.

Sarah's KeySarah's Key by Tatiana de Rosnay

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Sarah's Key is a good read, but a very depressing one. Very well written and easy to follow, however, this book filled with things that you wish you could forget.

The Christmas Box

The Christmas BoxThe Christmas Box by Richard Paul Evans

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This book had a great message! It brings you back to the true meaning of Christmas...LOVE. In all of our Christmas madness we often forget that Christmas isn't about anything that can be wrapped with a bow. After reading this book, I immediately ran to both of my kids and hugged them tight. It was a short read, but a great one. I highly recommend it.
